Living a life of worship

We are passionate about loving God and the people around us. The words we sing don’t have any meaning if we aren’t living them out, which is why we’re committed to getting to know the One we worship and sharing His message of hope with the world. That’s what living a life of worship looks like to us.

Magnify Worship is a ministry of Georgia-Cumberland Academy. At the heart of the program is the mission to train teens to be worship pastors, teaching them about who we worship, why we worship, and how to lead in worship. What began with five students in 2010 has blossomed into a program that equips approximately 50 students a year with the skills necessary to minister in the church. A large majority of our graduates continue to serve in college and beyond. In addition to the worship class, in 2019 we started a leadership class in an effort to further disciple the twelve student leaders in the program. The class focuses on spiritual growth, leadership development, and songwriting.

Mark Torsney (far left) and Kalie Kelch (far right) serve as directors of Magnify Worship. Mark is the instrumental and worship music director at GCA as well as the chair of the worship committee at the GCA Church. Kalie serves as marketing director at GCA and co-director of Magnify Worship. She is also a member of the worship committee at the church. Both are passionate about music, mentoring, and ministry.

Mark began the program in 2010, and Kalie joined him in 2013. Together they published a class curriculum in 2019 and one year later embarked on the journey of songwriting, recording, and producing original music and videos with the student leadership team.
